Women's Health Basic Panel

The Women's Health Basic lab test panel is an extensive screening tool designed to assess different facets of a woman's health, including blood health, metabolic function, cholesterol levels, hormone balance, iron storage, inflammation markers, thyroid function, and kidney function. Undergoing a Women's Health Basic lab test is a proactive approach to maintaining your health and identifying potential health issues early on. It is essential to consult with your healthcare provider for tailored advice and to fully comprehend the implications of your test results.

  • CBC (Complete Blood Count): Measures the levels of red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelets. Helps detect conditions like anemia, infection, and many other disorders.
  • CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Panel): A group of 14 tests that evaluate your liver and kidney function, blood sugar levels, blood proteins, and electrolyte and fluid balance.
  • Estrogen: Measures the levels of estrogen hormones, which can affect fertility, menstrual cycles, and identify hormonal imbalances.
  • Ferritin: Indicates the amount of stored iron in your body, which can help diagnose iron deficiency anemia or other health issues.
  • High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP): Used to evaluate inflammation and risk of cardiovascular disease.
  • Iron: Tests for iron deficiency or overload, contributing to conditions such as anemia or hemochromatosis.
  • Lipid Panel: Measures the levels of different types of cholesterol and triglycerides in your blood. Used to assess the risk of cardiovascular disease.
  • Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH): Evaluates thyroid function and can indicate hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.
  • Urinalysis: Checks for a wide range of disorders, such as urinary tract infection, kidney disease, and diabetes.

  • Fasting: You may need to fast (not eat or drink anything except water) for 8-12 hours before some of these tests, especially the CMP and Lipid Panel.
  • Medications: Inform your doctor about any medications, vitamins, or supplements you're taking, as some might affect the test results.
  • Hydration: Drink plenty of water before the urinalysis to ensure you can provide a urine sample.

  • Blood Sample: A lab technician or phlebotomist will draw blood from a vein in your arm for the CBC, CMP, Estrogen, Ferritin, hs-CRP, Iron, Lipid Panel, and TSH tests. The process is quick and involves minimal discomfort, similar to any standard blood test.
  • Urine Sample: You'll be asked to provide a urine sample in a sterile container for the urinalysis.

Depending on the results, further testing or follow-up appointments may be necessary. It is essential to discuss your test results with your healthcare provider, who can offer an interpretation and recommend any next steps or treatment.
